Home Made Pizza

Jump to Recipe

Today is pizza night! The kids are excited! And can I tell you? I am equally excited!

In this post, I am going to share the recipe for Pizza from scratch. Yes, that’s right! So you will learn how to make pizza dough for your pizza base and your own pizza sauce at home. Isn’t that exciting?

A pizza has four elements:

  1. The base
  2. The sauce
  3. The cheese
  4. The toppings

So I’m going to share the recipe for the base and the sauce. The cheese of course is Mozzarella and as goes for the toppings, you can add to your choice.

To make the pizza base

What you will need:

  • 4 cups of plain Flour
  • 2 tsp of dry active Yeast
  • 1 tsp of Sugar
  • 1.5 tsp of Salt
  • 1/4 cup of Olive Oil
  • 1 1/4 cup of Water

How To Make It:

  • Place all the dry ingredients (flour, yeast, sugar, salt) in a large bowl. Heat the water to lukewarm. Make a well in the center and put in lukewarm water and oil.
  • Knead the dough. You are looking for a smooth firm dough, so if its too sticky, add some more flour, and if it feels too dry, add a little more water.
  • Once you are happy with your dough, grease the bowl with some olive oil and place the dough in it. Cover with a cling film or a moist cloth. Keep this in a warm place for at least an hour. Since the weather here is already cold, I heated my oven to 100° C and then kept the bowl with the dough inside the oven. By the end of an hour, it should have roughly doubled in size.

  • So here the indents you see in the super fluffy and soft risen dough are an excited me poking my fingers into the pillowy dough.
  • Also notice the internal texture after the rise.

  • Gently knead this dough for a minute or two and then divide it into 2 to 3 portions depending on how big you want the pizzas to be. Cover and let them rest for another 30 minutes or so.
  • Now your pizza dough is ready to be rolled out and made into those delicious pizzas the kids have been waiting for!

To assemble the Pizza

  • Sprinkle on the mozzarella as generously as you like.
  • Finally put on all the toppings you want. I personally love my pizza to be loaded.
  • Bake in the oven in the center rack for 10-15 minutes at 210° C.
  • And here it comes out, hot and yum!

Giving you a glimpse of the inside of the crust:

Now again, if you are like me, you want that slice to be extra loaded with all the super yummy toppings, beautiful fresh veggies in this case, so here goes! The picture below shows my portion of the pizza, the super loaded one!

Grab your prettiest apron and a whisk, put on your favorite song, and start creating the magic! Do share your experience of this post and recipe and your views and opinions! I would love to hear them.
