Bread and Butter Pudding – two ways

Jump to Recipe

This bread and butter pudding is one recipe for those days when you crave something heartwarming and comforting, easy to make, and sweet. Everything you need for this is already there in your kitchen!

I decided to make 2 versions of this recipe: one is the regular version and one is a tipsy version with some Bailey’s Irish cream. You can also use rum or bourbon instead.

Here’s what you need:
  • 12 slices of bread
  • 1½ cup of milk
  • ¾ cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup of raisins
  • ½ cup of melted butter
  • Vanilla essence
  • Bailey’s Irish Cream/ Rum/ Bourbon
How to make it:
  • The first step is to cut the bread. You can use any type of bread you want. I just roughly tore the pieces apart with my hands, you can cut them out nicely if you want to.
  • Next, you need to take a big bowl and add in the butter, eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Give it a good stir.
  • Now place your pieces of bread into a baking dish and spread some raisins all over.
  • Afterward, you need to pour the egg mixture generously over the bread making sure that the bread pieces have completely absorbed the liquid and yet there is some more of it in the baking dish.
  • Bake at 180º C for 30 to 35 minutes.

  • Just look at how much it has risen in the oven!
  • Your Bread and Butter Pudding is ready!
  • Despite the temptation, let it cool down first and then dig in!

For the tipsy version

  • You just need to add your choice of the above alcohol options to the egg mixture.
