How to make it:
The Sausage mixture:
  • First of all, we are going to make the mixture for vegetarian hotdogs patties for which, we will first boil and mash the kidney beans and potatoes. While doing so, it’s important to ensure that there remains almost no moisture in both of them, otherwise, the sausages won’t take a great shape.

  • Next, prepare the other element of these sausages: sautéd vegetables, which will not only add a great texture but also make the sausages more delicious. For that, heat some oil in a pan and add the crushed garlic, along with the onions and the capsicums.

The caramelized onions and mushrooms:
  • You can also caramelize some onions or mushrooms or both to add to your hotdogs. Yes, a bit of extra work if you choose to do that but you won’t regret it.
  • Just toss both of them into a pan & let them cook over medium heat while stirring continuously so that the onions/mushrooms do not burn and stick to the pan and get evenly caramelized.

Cooking the sausages:
  • It’s time to cook the sausages: with the help of your hands, bind the mixture into the shape of a sausage.

  • Afterward, you can either bake them or fry them in a frying pan. Remember: the mixture is already cooked, we just need to make it golden on the outside. If you want to bake them, you can bake them at 200º C for 10 minutes or till golden, and then flip them and cook again. Otherwise, you can cook them with a little oil in the frying pan.
