Creamy Peanut Butter

You must’ve bought a jar of peanut butter from your nearby store (and loved it). But have you ever thought to make an all-organic, at home version? You’d be amazed to realize that making your own jar only takes a few minutes of your time.

This made at-home version is so much better than the store one’s because first, you control what goes in it, how much of extras (sugar, oil, salt) you want, or if you want to go all-natural. Another plus point is this one comes without preservatives yet has a good shelf life (upto 3 weeks!)

And let’s not forget the versatility a peanut butter comes with. You can make multiple recipes such as peanut butter smoothie, peanut butter energy bars, peanut butter cookies, peanut butter cake and so much more!

Read below to know how this recipe can give you a beautiful, creamy result.

Ingredients:

1 cup roasted peanuts

OPTIONAL:

  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp of vegetable or peanut oil
  • 1 tbsp of honey or jaggery (gur)

How to make it:

  • Slow roast the peanuts till they no more taste raw.
  • You can remove the skin of the peanuts or keep them on. I prefer to remove the skins from half of the peanuts. Then let them cool down completely.

  • In the dry grinder jar (this is mostly the smallest jar) of your mixer-grinder, start by pulsing the peanuts till you get a powder, something that looks like a peanut meal.   
  • Add in the salt.
  • Then start grinding it in 30-40 second bursts. You will have to do this a few times before this turns into the creamy butter texture. So patience is the key here. 
  • If you are using the oil and sweetener, you can add it at any point.
  • You may want to allow the jar to cool in between if you notice that it is heating too much.
  • Here is your creamy homemade peanut butter ready!

Notes

  • At times the grinding jar may get too hot. In that case, give some time for the jar to cool before you start the process again.
